Christine Luckasavitch is an Omàmìwininì Madaoueskarini Anishinaabekwe of the headwaters of the Madawaska River and belongs to the Crane Clan. She is a lifelong resident of Whitney, Ontario. Her ancestors are both those who are Indigenous to this territory and those who first settled in Whitney, Algonquin Park and the Ottawa Valley.
Christine is the Owner of Waaseyaa Consulting, an Indigenous culture and heritage consulting company with a branch, Waaseyaa Cultural Tours, an Indigenous-based tourism company operating in Algonquin territory. Waaseyaa Cultural Tours offers opportunities for people to learn about 11,000+ years of Madaoueskarini Algonquin history through land-based programming in unceded Algonquin territory, including Algonquin Provincial Park. Waaseyaa means “bright light” in Anishinaabemowin, the language of the Algonquin Anishinaabeg Nation.
